Controller
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the incumbent will work with a team to ensure delivery of monthly financial statements, operating and variance reports, cash flow projections and other relevant financial information. The Controller plays a key role in the success of our organization by ensuring the effective management of designated financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures;
- Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls;
- Preparing budgets by establishing schedules;
- Collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data;
- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
- Administration and maintenance of all aspects of pay and benefits in a timely basis;
- Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll and other pay or payroll related activities;
- Maintains accounts payable and accounts receivable records though regular updates, verifications, reconciliation of accounts and coding;
- Monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and Visa statements for all Credit Cards;
- Corresponding Journal entries for all bank and credit card reconciliations;
- General & full cycle accounting;
- Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results and forecasts are accurate and completed on a timely basis with the appropriate level of reconciliation of relevant financial information; and
- Coordinate’s month-end and year-end processes ensuring timely month-end and year-end close and preparation of financial audit working papers using CaseWare software
Qualifications and Skills required:
- 5 years’ experience in Accounting Role and 2 years’ experience as Controller;
- MBA in Finance or Accounting or CPA is required;
- The responsibilities of the position require a specialized knowledge of Financial Accounting, Payroll and Financial Management;
- The incumbent is experienced with Simply Accounting, Paymate, CaseWare and Microsoft Office;
- The incumbent must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment; and
- Knowledge and/or experience with the Nunavut and Northern Canada is an asset.
